Anderson to Visit Regional Site on Friday

Anderson University’s men’s and women’s cross country teams will be competing at the Pre-Regional Meet hosted by Wilmington College at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio on Sept. 23. Both teams will get a chance to get a feel for the Division III Great Lakes Regional host course.

The Ravens are coming off terrific showings at the Indiana Intercollegiates held at Indiana University last Friday. Anderson’s men’s team finished first in the Little State meet and were led by sophomore Sean Hudson ( Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville). He finished fourth among the 21 Little State runners and 12th overall among all 224 participants.

On the women’s side, Anderson was the top-finishing HCAC school and placed fifth as a team in the Little State meet. The Ravens’ top runner was junior Maggie Noonan ( Peru, Ind./Maconaquah) who placed seventh in the small college division. She placed 17th among all 203 runners.

Bluffton and Defiance’s cross country teams will be at the Otterbein Invitational on Sept. 24. Bluffton is coming off a first place finish for both its men and women at the Beaver Invitational last weekend. Senior Dan Rosebrock (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) won the men’s race in a time of 27:53.13. On the women’s side, sophomore Sarah Humphrey ( Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky) finished in first place in a time of 24:31.98.

Defiance competed at last weekend’s Toledo Invitational. The Yellow Jackets were led by junior Rachel Munoz ( Fostoria, Ohio/Lakota) who placed 68th in a time of 21:27. Senior Tom Habenicht ( North Ridgeville, Ohio/ North Ridgeville) was the top runner for Defiance on the men’s side. He finished the 8K course in 28:23.

Hanover , Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania will all three be competing at the Louisville Classic on Sept. 24.

Hanover participated in the Indiana Intercollegiates last weekend. The Panthers placed 16th on the men’s side and tenth on the women’s side. Junior Mike Sullivan (New Palestine, Ind./Scecina) was the top finisher for Hanover’s men. Sullivan placed 65th in a time of 28:17. Senior Leah Peelman ( Cincinnati, Ohio/Purcell Marion) has been exceptional for the Panthers this season. She has two first place finishes under her belt and placed second at the Little State meet. Peelman finished in a time of 18:24 and ran just behind Heather Cooksey, a runner for Division II Southern Indiana.

Mount St. Joseph competed at the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame last weekend. Freshman Terrance Miller was the top men’s finisher for the Mount. Miller ran the race in 32:34. Senior Christine Kirchner ( Wauconda, Ill./ Carmel) performed well for the Lions as well. She finished in a time of 20:51.

Transylvania competed at the inaugural Beaver Invitational at Bluffton last weekend. The Pioneers were led by freshman Mallory Harlow ( Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Adam Graham ( Greenville, Ky.). Harlow led the Transy women with a 14th place finish in a time of 29:21. Graham led the men with a seventh place finish in a time of 30:31.86.

Franklin and Manchester will not be in action this weekend, but return on the weekend of Oct. 1.
