Anderson will Look for Sixth Straight Cross Country Sweep

GREENWOOD, IN – The HCAC men’s and women’s cross country championships will take place Saturday, October 27 at Hanover College. Anderson will be looking to claim the school’s ninth straight men’s conference championship, while the women will be looking for their sixth straight.
The Ravens have been led by Sean Hudson (Shelbyville, IN) this season after losing three-time HCAC champion Stephen Cohen to graduation. Cohen claimed the conference title last year, finishing 16 seconds ahead of Hudson who finished second. This season, Hudson has been in the spotlight for Anderson, finishing third at the Calvin Pre-Regional with a time of 24:42, and placing second at the Indiana Little State meet with a time of 25:21.96. Hudson will be looking for his first HCAC championship. As a team, Anderson placed second at the Indiana Little State meet and finished fifth at the Calvin Pre-Regional.
The Ravens women finished fourth at the Indiana Little State meet and placed sixth at the Calvin Pre-Regional this fall. AU has been paced by Gwen Kemple (Rushville, IN) this season after the loss of last year’s conference champion Maggie Noonan to graduation. Kemple finished first at the Indiana Little State meet with a time of 17:47.27 and won the title at the Calvin Pre-Regional with a time of 21:12 on the 6K course. She also claimed the fourth position at the highly competitive Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 17:59. Kemple earned the conference title at the 2004 HCAC Championships and will look for her second crown this weekend.
The women will compete on a 6K course Saturday while the men will run the 8K course, with action getting underway from Hanover College at 11 AM.
