Franklin’s Rupp and DC’s Snyder Recognized Nationally

GREENWOOD , IN – Franklin College’s Chad Rupp (Evansville, Ind./Memorial) and Defiance College’s Keith Snyder (Martin, Mich./H.S.) have been named Players of the Week in national publications for their performance last weekend. Rupp was one of 18 Division-III players selected to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette National Players of the Week list, while Snyder earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Franklin junior quarterback Chad Rupp continued to pilot the highly dangerous Grizzlies offense, racking up career-high numbers in FC’s 55-22 rout of Defiance. Rupp completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts for a career-high 437 yards, a career-high six touchdowns, and three interceptions in a Franklin win that clinched the HCAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III playoffs. Rupp has led the Franklin offense that ranks first in the HCAC and fourth nationally in points per game (44.3 ppg) and yards per contest (514.0 ypg). The Evansville native ranks second nationally in passing efficiency (195.1) and 12 th in passing yards per game (286.3 ypg). Rupp has tossed a league high 29 touchdowns and has only six interceptions this season. Franklin (8-1, 6-0 HCAC) will look for a win over Hanover (2-7, 2-4 HCAC) in the Victory Bell game to win the conference championship outright.
Defiance junior defensive back Keith Snyder became the third Yellow Jacket player to receive national recognition this season after his performance against Franklin. Snyder earned the honor after tying a Defiance College single-game record with three interceptions in the 55-22 loss to Franklin. The junior also forced a fumble and piled up a game-high 10 tackles. Defiance (5-4, 4-2 HCAC) will look to conclude the season with a win over rival Bluffton (0-9, 0-6 HCAC) Saturday.
