Rose-Hulman to Host 2008 NCAA Division III Baseball Regional

TERRE HAUTE, IN -- For the third time in four years, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has been selected to serve as a regional site for the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.
Rose-Hulman, which will serve as one of eight venues for the 54 teams that qualify for postseason play, has been named the predetermined first-round site for Mideast Region competition.
Either six or eight teams will appear in Rose-Hulman's regional, in a double-elimination tournament format. Play will begin on Wed., May 14 and continues through May 18. The schools participating in the regional will be announced by the NCAA Division III Tournament Committee on Mon., May 12.
Three of the eight regional sites receive eight-team fields, while the remaining five sites receive six-team fields. Rose-Hulman previously served as the predetermined Mideast Regional host site in 2005 and 2006.
The regional champion from each of the eight sites advances to Fox Cities, Wisconsin, for the NCAA Division III Baseball National Championship from May 23-27.
Rose-Hulman has previously hosted NCAA Division III National Championships for men's and women's indoor track and field (2007), women's basketball (2002 and 2003), and golf (1995). NCAA Regional events hosted by the college include baseball (2005 and 2006), cross country (1997) and wrestling (2002).
Rose-Hulman will also host the 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships in mid-March.
