HCAC Names Michael Conlin New Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officials

GREENWOOD, IN – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced March 27 the hiring of Michael Conlin as the conference’s new Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officials. Conlin succeeds John Adams who was named the NCAA National Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officiating in October. Conlin and Adams will officially assume his new position this summer.
Mike has held a similar position with the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) since 1999 and was also recently named the Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officials with the Horizon League. Commissioner Tom Bohlsen expressed his conference’s deep appreciation for the continuing willingness of the Horizon League to share their coordinator with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Bohlsen feels confident that Mr. Conlin’s officiating background and experience will equip him to build upon the solid foundation John Adams has established for the HCAC’s men’s basketball officiating program.
In his new job, Conlin will be responsible for the administration and development of the HCAC’s men’s basketball officiating program and assign officials for all home games of the league’s nine member institutions.
The Lansing, Mich., native has more than two decades of collegiate officiating experience in basketball, calling games in three NCAA Division I leagues (MAC, Big Ten Conference, and the Horizon League). He has worked conference championship tournament games in the Horizon League, the Mid-American Conference, and in the Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Mike has also gained insight from his other collegiate officiating experiences, which include Division I Baseball for 23 years. In that area he has worked the NCAA Regionals the past eight years, Super Regionals the past five seasons, and the 2005 College World Series. Further he is a member of the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee and a presenter at the NCAA Baseball Clinic. Conlin has been a collegiate football official for 21 years with the last five in the Mid-American Conference.
