Bluffton’s Lindsey Miller Honored as HCAC Women’s Player of the Month

April 2, 2008

GREENWOOD, IN – Bluffton’s Lindsey Miller ( Wapakoneta, Ohio/H.S.) has been named March’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Player of the Month. The junior softball infielder propelled the Beavers to a 10-12 record in March, while hitting a league-best .500 in those 22 contests.

Miller was 33-for-66 at the plate and finished March with 16 runs, 28 RBI, seven doubles, and six home runs.

Included in her performances was a 3-for-3 effort in Bluffton’s 9-2 win over Cedarville on March 25. She had four RBI, two runs, and two home runs in the second game of the doubleheader.

For the season, Miller ranks among the HCAC leaders in slugging percentage (.879), RBI (28), on-base percentage (.532), doubles (7), runs scored (16), and home runs (6). Her six home runs have already set a single-season Bluffton record.

The junior earned the conference’s Softball Hitter of the Week award for her efforts in the week ending on March 9 and March 16. She was 17-for-33 at the plate with 11 RBI, nine runs, five doubles, and a home run during the ten game stretch ending March 9.

Miller is the first Bluffton female athlete to claim the award and is only the fourth Beaver ever to receive the honor.

The HCAC Player of the Month award is in its third year of existence. The award is voted on by the sports information directors of each member institution.
