GREENWOOD, Ind. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has earned the 2017-18 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's All-Sports Trophy. The Fightin' Engineers picked up 67.5 total points in the all-sports race, securing the award for the first time in school history.
The Rose-Hulman women's programs won four conference championships during the academic year, earning the title in cross country, indoor/outdoor track and field, and basketball. The Engineers placed second in golf and third in tennis and volleyball during the 2017-18 season.
Hanover College finished second in the women's all-sports standings with 65.0 points. Transylvania University finished third with 62.3 points and was followed by Franklin College with 53.3 points. Manchester University (48.3 points), Mount St. Joseph University (40.7), Earlham College (39.2), Bluffton Univeristy (38.0), Defiance College (26.0), and Anderson University (21.7) rounded out the standings.
Jeff Jenkins, athletic director of Rose-Hulman, serves as the top administrator for the athletic department.
There are ten women's sports sponsored by the HCAC. The women compete in tennis, golf, soccer, cross country, volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving, softball, and indoor/outdoor track & field. Teams earn points for their institution by placing in each sport's championship.
