HCAC Announces Spring 2021 Men’s Soccer All Conference and Awards

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the Men’s Soccer post season awards on Monday.
 
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned the No. 1 seed following the regular season, and also picked up the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
 
Takezo Kelly (Cincinnati, Ohio) was voted as the Offensive Player of the Year. Kelly notched eight goals, four assists and 20 points over the course of 2021, starting all contests for the Fightin’ Engineers. The sophomore fired 38 shots, with 22 on goal for 57.9 percent shots on goal percentage. Kelly also netted three game winners, seeing action in 558 minutes.
 
Fellow Fightin’ Engineer Eric Kirby (LaGrange, Ky.) was named the Defensive Player of the Year, after leading Rose-Hulman to an unbeaten record of 8-0-1 in 2021. The senior notched 652 minutes with a game winning goal and three assists over the course of the season. Kirby led a defense that only allowed five goals and held teams to a mere 4.2 shots per game.
 
Fresh face Harley Kruschwitz (North Manchester, Ind.) burst on to the scene, earning the title of Newcomer of the Year. The Manchester first-year netted six goals, three of which were game-winners, and added two assists for 14 points over the course of 2021. He saw action in nine games with eight starts, firing off 25 shots, with 13 on goal.
 
Offensive Player of the Year – Takezo Kelly, RHIT

Newcomer of the Year – Harley Kruschwitz, MU 
Coach of the Year – Sean Helliwell, RHIT 
 
Rose-Hulman front man Sean Helliwell was voted as the HCAC Coach of the Year, following the regular season that saw an 8-0-1 record and a No. 1 seed, with a spot in the HCAC Championship.
 
The HCAC also honors an All-Conference First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention team. The members of those teams are selected by a vote of league coaches and are listed below.
