Rose-Hulman Wins Third-Straight HCAC Men’s All-Sports Trophy

GREENWOOD, IN –Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won the 2009-10 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s All-Sports Trophy. The Engineers earned 48.0 points during the academic year to claim the men’s all-sports trophy.  It is the Engineers fourth overall men’s trophy.

Rose-Hulman captured first place in men’s track for the third time in school history this spring and also earned first place points in men’s soccer.  The Engineers posted a second place finish in men’s tennis this spring.

Franklin College finished in a close second with 47.5 points and Anderson University finished third in the men’s all-sports race with 46.5 points. Manchester College finished fourth with 44.0 points and was followed by Hanover College with 38.5 points. Transylvania University (37.5 points), Defiance College (36.5), College of Mount St. Joseph (27.5), and Bluffton University (10) rounded out the standings.

The award has been handed out to the most successful men’s athletic department in the conference since 1988 when the conference was known as the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Jeff Jenkins serves as the top administrator for the athletic department at Rose-Hulman. 

There are eight men’s sports sponsored by the HCAC. The men compete in tennis, golf, soccer, cross country, football, basketball, baseball, and track & field. Teams earn points for their institution by placing in each sport's championship.
