Franklin Wins Fourth HCAC Men’s All-Sports Trophy

GREENWOOD, IN –Franklin College won the 2010-11 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s All-Sports Trophy. The Grizzlies earned 57.83 points during the academic year to claim the men’s all-sports trophy.  It is the Grizzlies fourth overall men’s trophy.

Franklin captured first place in football for the fourth time in school history this fall.  The blue and gold posted a second place finish in men’s soccer, cross country, track and field, and baseball.

Rose-Hulman finished in a close second with 56.00 points and Anderson University finished third in the men’s all-sports race with 52.16 points. Manchester College finished fourth with 50.16 points and was followed by Transylvania with 44.33 points. Hanover College (37.50 points), College of Mount St. Joseph (37.16), Defiance College (32.66), Earlham College (27.00), and Bluffton University (16.83) rounded out the standings.

The award has been handed out to the most successful men’s athletic department in the conference since 1988 when the conference was known as the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Kerry Prather serves as the top administrator for the athletic department at Franklin College. 

There are nine men’s sports sponsored by the HCAC. The men compete in tennis, golf, soccer, cross country, football, basketball, baseball, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field. Teams earn points for their institution by placing in each sport's championship.
