Hanover Claims Third HCAC Women’s All-Sports Award

GREENWOOD, IN – Hanover College has earned the 2011-12 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s All-Sports Trophy. The Panthers picked up 63.5 total points in the all-sports race and secured the award for the third time during the HCAC era.

The Hanover women’s programs won four conference championships during the academic year. Hanover established a lead in the all-sports race following the fall season, taking first place in women’s soccer and volleyball.  The Panthers also earned a title in women’s basketball and indoor & outdoor track and field.

Transylvania University finished second in the women’s all-sports standings with 61.17 points. Franklin College finished third with 54.0 points and was followed by Manchester College with 53.83 points. Anderson University (44.83 points), Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (43.67), Defiance College (39.67), Bluffton University (38.33), College of Mount St. Joseph (26.5), and Earlham College (23.5) rounded out the standings.

Lynn Hall, athletic director of Hanover College, serves as the top administrator for the athletic department.

There are nine women’s sports sponsored by the HCAC. The women compete in tennis, golf, soccer, cross country, volleyball, basketball, softball, and indoor/outdoor track & field. Teams earn points for their institution by placing in each sport's championship.
