GREENWOOD, IN – Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner Chris Ragsdale has announced the hiring of Sara Landis as Assistant Commissioner for Communications.
"I was very impressed with Sara's knowledge of the conference, her passion for the position and her experience with social media,” says Chris Ragsdale, HCAC Commissioner. "I am confident Sara will be able to continue the strong tradition of leadership in the areas sports information, public relations and communication.”
Landis comes to the HCAC after working the past season as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where she served as the primary communications contact for soccer, tennis, women’s basketball and softball. Landis also initiated sponsored athletic events with marketing and promotions and helped grow RHIT’s social media presence during her season in Terre Haute.
At the HCAC office, Landis will be the primary contact for all 18 conference sponsored sports. To that end, she’ll handle all content on www.heartlandconf.org, run the conference social media outlets, and day-to-day, weekly and championship media relations duties.
In addition, she’ll coordinate the HCAC Player of the Week awards, All-HCAC awards, tournament programs and oversee assigned conference championships as assigned by the commissioner.
"I am excited to begin my professional career in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. I look forward to serving the ten great institutions within the HCAC, and I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity,” stated Landis.
A native of Greenwood, Ind., Landis is a 2015 graduate of Hanover College, holding a degree in Communications. She is also actively pursuing her Master of Science degree in Recreation and Sports Management.
