Manchester 's Miller and Rose-Hulman's Tepe Named All-Mideast Region First Team by ABCA

ALLIANCE, OH - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Tim Tepe (Cincinnati , Ohio /Elder) and Manchester 's Matty Miller (Rochester , Ind. /H.S.) have been named First Team All-Mideast Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Rose's Chandler Kent (Antioch , Ill./H.S.) and Andrew Bilse (Munster , Ind. /H.S.) earned Gold Glove Awards for their performances this spring.

Tepe, a junior shortstop for the Engineers, earned first team honors after hitting .472 with 57 runs, 84 hits, 19 doubles, and six triples. The Cincinnati native slugged .764 his junior season and posted an on-base percentage of .522. Tepe was named the HCAC Baseball Most Valuable Player.

Miller, a senior first baseman for the Spartans, was first team Mideast Region for his efforts. Miller hit .435 with 55 runs scored, 23 doubles, 12 home runs, and 50 RBI during his senior season. He added a .831 slugging percentage and a .522 on-base percentage on his way to a first team All-HCAC selection.

Rose-Hulman's Kent posted a .953 fielding percentage at third base during the 2009 season. The junior posted 38 put outs with 83 assists against six errors this season.

Bilse, a junior outfielder for Rose, notched a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield for the Engineers. The junior contributed 81 put outs this season to capture his gold glove honor.

Manchester College's Ty Foster (Danville , Ind. /H.S.), Franklin College's Ian Sanders (Decatur , Ind. /Bellmont), and Transylvania University's Thomas Tolliver (Wurtland, Ky./Raceland) earned a selection on the ABCA All-Mideast Region Second Team. All three were named first team All-HCAC this season.

Rose-Hulman's Keenan Long (Park Ridge , Ill. /Northwestern Uni.), Chris Stemple (Mt. Vernon, Ind./H.S.), and Derek Eitel (Marshall, Ill./H.S.), Mount St. Joseph's Nick Weimer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills), Franklin College's Alex Boone (Carmel, Ind./H.S.), and Manchester College's Josh Atkinson (Carroll, Ind./Jay Co.) have been named to the ABCA All-Mideast Region Third Team.

The fifteen players that earned ABCA first team recognition will advance to the ABCA All-American ballot which will be selected and announced this week at the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship in Grand Chute, Wis.
