Rose-Hulman's Tim Tepe Named ABCA First-Team All-American

TERRE HAUTE, IN -- Junior shortstop Tim Tepe (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Elder) earned the initial first-team All-American honor in the history of Rose-Hulman baseball in results released today by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Manchester College's Matty Miller (Rochester, Ind./H.S.) earned second-team All-American honors.

Tepe, who was named second-team All-American by d3baseball.com earlier this week, also becomes the first Fightin' Engineer baseball player to earn All-American honors from two organizations in the system.

Tepe was the lone shortstop selected to the first squad of the ABCA / Rawlings NCAA Division III All-America Team.

Tepe, named the American Baseball Coaches Association Mideast Region Player of the Year earlier this week, established school records with a .485 batting average, .792 slugging percentage, 87 hits, 57 runs scored and a 28-game hitting streak during the 2009 campaign.

His totals included 28 multiple-hit games, 15 multiple RBI games and helping turn 34 of the team's school record 54 double plays in the field.

Manchester's Miller was one of two first basemen selected to the second-team. Miller hit .435 with 55 runs scored, 23 doubles, 12 home runs, and 50 RBI during his senior season. He added a .831 slugging percentage and a .522 on-base percentage on his way to a first team All-HCAC selection.

Rose-Hulman finished its fourth ever trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 32-14 record.  The Fightin' Engineers also won the HCAC Tournament title.
