GREENWOOD, IN- Manchester College posted a 3-2 mark during last week's action and stands 4-3 overall this young season. The Spartans posted victories over Goshen, Alma, and DePauw during the week.
The Spartans (4-3, 0-0 HCAC) offense tallied 40 runs during the three wins and struggled during the pair of losses, tallying only seven runs in the two defeats. The black and gold currently ranks second in the HCAC in batting average (.318), slugging percentage (.494), on-base percentage (.421), and doubles (23).
Senior catcher Trey Forbes (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) finished 11-of-21 (.524) at the plate to lead the Spartans offense during the week. Forbes scored 10 runs and added six doubles, a home run, eight RBI, and a stolen base during the week's action.
In a 13-4 win over Alma, the senior finished 4-for-4 with five RBI, four runs scored, three doubles, and a home run.
On the mound for Manchester, sophomore pitcher Bryce Murphy (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) posted a 1-0 mark with a 14-2 victory over DePauw. The sophomore tossed seven innings and struck out five batters, while allowing 10 hits and two earned runs.
Manchester returns to action against Taylor Tuesday afternoon before heading south to Fort Myers, Florida for a weeklong trip.
