GREENWOOD, IN- Transylvania
University closed out their spring break trip to Winter Haven,
Florida with five-straight wins last week. The Pioneers (7-3,
0-0 HCAC) notched wins over St. Norbert, Ripon, Spalding, and
Stevens Institute to close out their seven-game trip down
Senior catcher Drew Zuckerman (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) paced the Pioneers' offensive attack during the week. The senior finished 7-of-20 (.350) at the plate with four runs scored, two doubles, a triple, and two home runs. Zuckerman also led the Pioneers with five RBI and 17 total bases during the week.
The senior registered a hit in each of the five contests, including driving in a run in four of the five wins.
On the mound for Transylvania, junior pitcher Taylor Bugh (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) posted a 1-0 mark with a 7-1 victory over Ripon. After giving up a leadoff hit in the third inning, Bugh retired the last 21 batters he faced to earn the complete game four-hitter. The junior finished with 10 strikeouts on the day, allowing just one walk.
Transy returns to action Tuesday afternoon against Thomas More before opening HCAC play at home against Manchester this weekend.
