Baseball Report (Week 8) - Bluffton Sweeps Anderson; Ends 14 Game Skid to Ravens

GREENWOOD, IN- Bluffton University increased its win streak to five in a row following a perfect 3-0 week.  The Beavers (15-17, 7-10 HCAC) have won five straight in league play and handed rival Defiance and Anderson defeats last week.

Freshman Tyler Wright (Troy, Ohio/H.S.) led the Beavers offense during the week, finishing 7-of-14 (.500) at the plate.  Wright delivered eight RBI with three runs scored and a .929 slugging percentage, including his first two collegiate home runs Saturday against Anderson.

Wright's second home run was a 10th inning walk-off homer in BU's 12-11 win over Anderson Saturday, capping off the two-game sweep.  Bluffton's wins over Anderson snapped a streak of 14-straight losses to the Ravens.

Kelly Barnes (Toledo, Ohio/Christian) pitched the Beavers to a 7-2 victory at Defiance on Thursday night. The junior left hander tossed a complete game, allowing two earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts.

Bluffton will try and continue its hot play this week as the Beavers face Defiance at home Tuesday afternoon.  BU will travel south to Hanover this weekend for a three-game series with the Panthers.
