Baseball Report (Week 9) - Engineers Move within Two Games of HCAC Lead
GREENWOOD, IN- Rose-Hulman moved within striking distance of the conference title after a successful week of play. The Engineers (23-13, 13-8 HCAC) defeated Franklin and took two out of three against league leader Manchester in Terre Haute to move within two games of the conference lead.
Senior Michael Kovacs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) led the Rose offense during the week, finishing 8-of-15 (.533) at the plate. Kovachs scored six runs, drove in seven RBI, and added two home runs and one stolen base. The senior added a slugging percentage of .933 to pace the Engineers.
On the mound for RHIT, senior Gannon Sadzeck (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) posted a 1-0 record with a save to lead the pitching staff. The senior posted a 0.96 earned run average during the week in two appearances.
Sadzeck tossed 7.1 innings, allowing two runs in a win over Franklin and followed that effort with two innings of work for a save against Manchester.
Rose-Hulman finishes the regular season schedule on the road this week. The Engineers will face Franklin in a single contest Tuesday afternoon and close the schedule this weekend at Hanover.
