Baseball Report (Week 2) - Franklin Earns Three Game Sweep of Albion

GREENWOOD, IN- Franklin College continued its hot start to the season with a 3-0 record last week.  The HCAC preseason favorite Grizzlies (8-2, 0-0 HCAC) earned a three-game sweep of visiting Albion Friday and Saturday.

The blue and gold scored 31 runs during the three wins, holding Albion to 14 runs during the series. 

Senior third baseman Jordon Klinedinst (Lebanon, Ind./H.S.) was 4-for-10 with three runs scored and six RBI during the weekend.  Klinedinst was 1-for-4 in FC's 7-3 win Saturday, smacking a walk-off grand slam in the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie with two outs. 

In the second contest Saturday, Klinedinst was 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI in a 17-8 triumph.

FC also earned a 7-3 win on Friday afternoon.  Senior right-hander Shawn Mattingly (Indianapolis, Ind./Decatur Central) pitched all nine innings in the comeback win, scattering 11 hits.  The senior gave up three runs with no walks and seven strikeouts to even his record at 1-1 on the season.

Franklin will welcome Wisconsin-Platteville to town for a three-game series this weekend.
