GREENWOOD, IN- Franklin College finished the week with a three-game sweep of Earlham College and moved to 12-6 in HCAC play. The Grizzlies (24-8, 12-6 HCAC) went 3-1 during the week and currently stand third in the league standings.
Franklin began the week's schedule with a 6-4 loss at home to Rose-Hulman. The visiting Engineers scored four runs in the second inning and held on for the win. FC's Scott Windler (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic) finished the afternoon 2-for-5 with a home run to lead the Grizzlies.
The blue and gold received a much needed sweep of Earlham over the weekend. FC earned a 7-4 win Saturday and closed the series with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday.
Junior catcher Jesse Wilson (Seymour, Ind./H.S.) was 6-for-13 with a double, two runs scored, two stolen bases, and six RBI during the series.
In the Grizzlies' 8-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader at Earlham on Sunday, Wilson was 4-for-4 with a double, a run scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases.
On the mound, senior Nathan Ellis (Plainfield, Ind./H.S.) pitched all nine innings, earning the win, in Franklin's 7-4 win at Earlham Saturday. Ellis gave up 11 hits and just one earned run, while striking out seven Quakers in the win.
Franklin will face rival Hanover at Victory Field in Indianapolis Thursday evening and end the week with a three-game series at home against Bluffton over the weekend.
