GREENWOOD, IN- Transylvania bounced back after starting HCAC play with a 1-2 mark with a perfect 5-0 record last week. The Pioneers (11-9, 5-2 HCAC) earned a win over Hanover, Centre, and a three-game sweep of Defiance during the week of play.
Transy kicked off play with a narrow 4-3 win over Hanover Tuesday. Senior Ken Riley (Lexington, Ky./Catholic) went 2-for-4 in the win, including a three-run home run in the third inning.
Riley picked up where he left off in TU's 4-2 win at Centre Wednesday afternoon. The senior blasted another three-run home run, helping the Pios defeat their in state rival.
Over the weekend, Transylvania traveled north to Defiance and earned a three-game sweep of the host Jackets.
Riley continued his solid week going 6-for-12 at the plate during the Defiance series with four runs scored, seven RBI, four doubles, and a home run.
In Saturday's 4-0 win over DC, Transy pitcher Chris Bloch (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) pitched a complete-game two-hitter. The senior lefty did not allow a hit until the sixth inning and finished the contest with eight strikeouts, one walk, and two hits allowed in the seven inning contest.
Transylvania will play at Hanover Tuesday afternoon and play a three-game series at Bluffton Friday and Saturday.
