Spartans to Play in Marietta Regional in NCAA National Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Manchester College baseball team will travel to Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio this week to play in one of eight regional tourneys in the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship tournament, as announced by the organization's selection committee today.
The Spartans (25-19 overall) will join seven other schools in the regional which will be hosted by Marietta at Don Schaly Stadium Wednesday through Sunday and has a double-elimination format.
Manchester, the No. 7 seed, will play in the last game, taking on No. 7 seed Washington & Jefferson (35-8) at 8PM on Wednesday, May 16.
Manchester, which defeated Anderson in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship game on Saturday, advanced to the NCAA tourney with an automatic bid. The Spartans are making their first NCAA Division III playoff appearance since 2005.
Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the NCAA Division III World Series double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis. May 25-29.
