HCAC Pair Earns Spot on D3baseball.com All-America Team

GREENWOOD, IN – Manchester College junior utility Bryce Murphy (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) and junior shortstop Corey Marchant (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) have been named All-America by D3baseball.com in results released this afternoon.

Murphy, a junior outfielder and pitcher for the Spartans, hit .325 with 43 runs, 66 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, and 38 RBI to earn second team status.  The junior also posted an 8-3 record on the mound for the black and gold with a 3.79 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 80.2 innings of work as the Spartans reached the Mideast Regional final.

Marchant, a junior shortstop for the Spartans, earned a spot on the honorable mention squad.  The junior finished the season hitting .380 at the plate and added 53 runs, seven doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, and 49 RBI.  Marchant was also named the HCAC Most Valuable Player for his efforts this spring.  Marchant also earned a spot on the Second-Team ABCA/Rawlings All-American Team.

The All-American team consists of three teams plus honorable mention and was voted on by D3baseball.com staff, contributors and Sports Information Directors.
