Manchester’s Marchant & Murphy Named Preseason All-Americas

GREENWOOD, IN - The 2013 Preseason All-American team was announced early this morning, with Manchester University senior shortstop Corey Marchant (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) being named to the second team. Manchester senior utility player Bryce Murphy (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) earned a spot on the honorable mention squad.

Marchant earned honorable mention All-America honors from last season.  Marchant was also named the HCAC Most Valuable Player last spring after batting .380 with 73 hits, 53 runs scored, seven doubles, 14 home runs and 49 RBI.

Manchester's Murphy earned second team All-America honors from last spring.  The senior hit .325 with 43 runs, 66 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, and 38 RBI, while posting an 8-3 record on the mound with a 3.79 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 80.2 innings of work.

The 2013 baseball season opens on February 22 with the HCAC portion of the schedule beginning on March 22.
