HCAC Trio Earns Spot on D3baseball.com All-America Team

GREENWOOD, IN – Manchester University senior shortstop Corey Marchant (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger), and junior third baseman Jordan Nieman (Michigan City, Ind./H.S.), and senior outfielder/pitcher Bryce Murphy (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) have been named All-America by D3baseball.com in results released this afternoon.

Marchant, a senior shortstop for the Spartans, earned first team honors after hitting .373 with 54 runs, 63 hits, 19 doubles, five home runs, and 56 RBI. 

Niemann, a junior third basemen, was placed on the second team after hitting .339 with 42 runs, 64 hits, 17 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, and 70 RBI. 

Murphy, a senior outfielder and pitcher for the Spartans, earned a spot on the honorable mention squad.  The senior is hitting .392 with 64 runs, 74 hits, 21 doubles, and 43 RBI, while boasting a 1.10 ERA, 13 saves, and 54 strikeouts in 73.1 innings of work.  Murphy was also named the HCAC Most Valuable Player for his efforts this spring.

The All-American team consists of three teams plus honorable mention and was voted on by D3baseball.com staff, contributors and Sports Information Directors.
