Franklin College’s Chris Hoopingarner (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) helped the Grizzlies secure the No. 4 seed in this week’s HCAC tournament and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time.
The senior pitcher recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts and allowed just one unearned run in eight innings as FC beat Bluffton 10-1 Friday evening.
The lefty earned his seventh win of the season, allowing just two extra base hits in the outing.
Franklin (24-15, 15-10 HCAC) will open the HCAC tournament at Manchester against the host Spartans at 12:00 PM Thursday.
