ANDERSON, IN - The College of Mount St. Joseph (5-0, 3-0 HCAC) posted a school-record 61 points in the Lions 61-28 win at Anderson (0-5, 0-2 HCAC) Saturday afternoon.
The Mount jumped out to a 26-14 lead at the half and outscored the Ravens 28-7 in the third quarter to put the game well out of reach. MSJ scored on eight straight drives during the span, scoring seven touchdowns and a field goal.
The Lions utilized a balanced attack in the win, rushing for 277 yards on the day and adding 212 yards via the passing attack.
Running back Noah Joseph (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) led the way offensively for MSJ, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. Quarterback Craig Mustard (Mason, Ohio/H.S.) was an efficient 13 of 18 for 204 yards and a touchdown.
Mount St. Joseph's special teams and defense also added a touchdown in the victory over Anderson.
Kicker Brian Weimer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was a perfect seven for seven on extra points and added a 40 and 41 yard field goal to earn the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Anderson quarterback Mitch Grider (Brookville, Ind./Franklin Co.) led the Ravens with 179 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 16 of his 27 passes.
Mount St. Joseph will return home to face Hanover this weekend, while Anderson travels to Franklin.
