ANDERSON, IN - The Anderson University (0-3, 0-0 HCAC) football team scored 27 points in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the host Ravens fell to Earlham College 37-34 on Saturday night at Macholtz Stadium.
AU trailed 27-7 entering the fourth quarter, but Mitch Grider (Brookeville, Ind./Union Co.) completed 16 of his 24 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns in the final 17 minutes to bring the Ravens to within three points. Anderson had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but a 51-yard field goal attempt by Tristan Cork (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) was wide left.
The Ravens finished with a 473-350 advantage in total offense, including 395 yards through the air. Nick Sharp (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) completed nine passes for 112 yards and a TD before Grider relived him late in the third quarter. Darryl Stott (Union City, Ind./H.S.) led the ground game with 65 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He also caught seven passes for 84 yards, including a 59-yard score.
AU will have this weekend off before opening conference play at Hanover on October 3.
