Franklin Draws Defending Champ Wisconsin-Whitewater in NCAA Football Playoffs

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Franklin College football team has a road game assignment in the upcoming 2010 NCAA Division III playoffs. The NCAA Committee announced its bracket pairings for the 32-team tournament this afternoon.
The Grizzlies (9-1 overall) – making their third appearance (in four years) in the NCAA playoffs with an automatic bid since becoming affiliated with Division III in 1992 – are a No. 7 seed and will travel to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (10-0) on Saturday, Nov. 20. The standard kickoff time for NCAA playoff games is noon (Central time at Whitewater).
Wisconsin-Whitewater, which won its sixth straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 7-0 record and posted a 10-0 overall mark, is a No. 2 seed. The defending national champion Warhawks are ranked first in both the D3football.com and AFCA national top 25 polls.
The Grizzlies are ranked 24th in the nation in the D3football.com Top 25 poll heading into their NCAA playoff contest.
Other first-round games in Franklin’s bracket include No. 1 seed North Central (10-0) hosting No. 8 St. Norbert (7-3); No. 3 DePauw (9-1) hosting No. 6 Trine (10-0); and No. 4 Ohio Northern (9-1) hosting No. 5 Wittenberg (10-0).
