HANOVER, IN - Hanover College (2-2, 1-1 HCAC) scored 42 straight points to pull away for a 52-31 home win over Rose-Hulman (1-2, 0-1 HCAC) Saturday in HC’s first-annual Hall of Fame game.
With Hanover trailing 24-10 late in the second quarter, the Panthers scored twice in the final 68 seconds of the first half to ignite a 42-point outburst. The Panthers scored six consecutive touchdowns to turn a 14 point deficit into a 52-24 cushion midway through the fourth quarter.
The Hanover offense piled up a season-high 589 yards of offense along with 37 first downs.
Junior quarterback C.J. Croft (Fort Campbell, Ky./H.S.) accounted for 413 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. Croft completed 22 of his 36 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for a team-high 125 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
Junior receiver Daniel Passafiume (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) caught a season-high 13 passes for 177 yards with a pair of touchdowns and also tossed a seven-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Shawn Gibson (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport).
The Rose-Hulman offense totaled 393 yards in the loss to Hanover.
Sophomore tailback Kyle Kovach (Munster, Ind./Andrean) led the Engineers on the ground with 121 yards and two touchdowns. Senior receiver Reed Eason (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) hauled in five receptions for 97 yards and a score to lead all Rose receivers.
Hanover travels north to face Anderson at 1:30 PM Saturday afternoon, while the Engineers return to Terre Haute for a 2:00 PM kickoff against Manchester.
