HANOVER, IN - The Hanover College (4-3, 4-1 HCAC) football squad blitzed Manchester College (2-5, 1-4 HCAC), 58-7, in the Panthers' second-annual Hall of Fame game Saturday afternoon. The Panthers stand second in the HCAC standings, trailing first place Franklin College by a single game.
Hanover's offense piled up 594 yards and the Panthers' defensive unit limited Manchester to just 103 total yards.
Senior running back Darren Bailey (Detroit, Mich./CMA) set the tone early with three first-half touchdowns. Bailey rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns and also added a 15-yard touchdown reception to help the Panthers sprint to a 27-0 lead at the intermission.
Hanover's defensive unit allowed only 36 yards on Manchester's first 34 plays from scrimmage. The effort helped the Panthers build 51-0 cushion before the Spartans scored to end the shutout-bid in the third quarter.
Junior receiver Dwayne Eubanks (Mitchell, Ind./H.S.) fueled Hanover's second-half burst with two third-period touchdowns, including a 96-yard scoring strike. In the contest, Eubanks set personal career marks with eight catches for 165 yards.
Sophomore quarterback Dexter Britt (Louisville, Ky./Male) finished the day 21-of-36 for a career-best 349 yards. He tossed a career-high four touchdown passes and was picked off once.
Hanover's defense posted three interceptions, forced Manchester to punt seven times and stopped the Spartans twice on downs. The Panthers allowed only 13 yards in the first period and 33 in the opening half.
Sophomore defensive back Sam Louis (Miami, Fla./Curley) had his first career two-interception game, adding five tackles and one tackle for loss.
Hanover will strive for a fourth consecutive win Saturday as the Panthers tangle with a hot Bluffton squad Saturday. Manchester will try to snap a four game losing streak as the Spartans return home to face Mount St. Joseph.
