HCAC Places Three Players on D3football.com All-North Region First Team

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference placed three athletes on the D3football.com All-North Region first-team.  Franklin College's Nick Schultz (Lowell, Ind./H.S.) was selected as a member of the first team offense.  Franklin's David O'Rourke (Evansville, Ind./Memorial) and Hanover College's Rory Mannering (Walton, Ind./Lewis Cass) earned a spot on the first team defense.

Schultz and O'Rourke guided the Grizzlies to an 8-0 conference record during the regular season and earned a spot on the All-HCAC first-team. Schultz, a junior guard on the offensive line, anchored the FC offensive line as the Grizzlies led the HCAC with 499.2 yards and 46.9 points per game. 

O'Rourke, a senior linebacker for the Grizzlies, was named the HCAC Defensive MVP for his efforts this fall.  The senior led the HCAC with 11 sacks and finished second in the league with 13.0 tackles for loss.  O'Rourke also contributed two fumble recoveries and added two interceptions this season, while posting 70 tackles.

Hanover senior safety Rory Mannering guided the Panthers to a 5-3 conference record during the regular season and earned a spot on the All-HCAC first-team.  Mannering finished the season with 80 tackles, five tackles for loss, four interceptions, and seven passes defended.

Five HCAC athletes were named second-team D3football.com All-North Region. Franklin's Jonny West (So., QB, Avon, Ind./Speedway), Rose-Hulman's Kyle Kovach (Jr., RB, Munster, Ind./Andrean), and Hanover's Matt Robinette (Sr., TE, Otwell, Ind./Pike Central) earned a spot on the second-team offense, while Bluffton's Justin Crosier (Sr., DT, Columbus, Ohio/Hamilton Township) and Manchester's Brecken Kennedy (Sr., CB, N. Manchester, Ind./Manchester) were named members of the second-team defense.

Seven other HCAC players earned selections to the third-team D3football.com All-North Region squad.  Mount St. Joseph's James Clay (Jr., RB, Louisville, Ky./Manual Dupont) Franklin's Kyle Linville (Jr., WR, Speedway, Ind./H.S.) and Colin Gallagher (So., C, Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler), Defiance's Andy Cessna (Sr., TE, Warren, Mich./Cousino), Rose-Hulman's Jeff Ketchum (Sr., T, Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore), and Manchester's Kyle Evans (Jr., K, Winamac, Ind./West Central) earned third-team offense honors, while Hanover's Andy Dalton (Jr., LB, Guilford, Ind./East Central) earned a spot on the third-team defense.

The three All-North Region teams are selected by North Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff. The selections were made from 193 nominations from the Division III member schools of the region.
