INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule kicked off last weekend for football.
Franklin College picked up a 51-27 win against Anderson on Saturday. The Grizzlies were led by running back Jacob Earl who added 92 yards on 16 carries with three touchdowns.
Mount St. Joseph moved to a 2-1 overall record after defeating Rose-Hulman 54-35 last weekend. The Lions offense was firing on all cylinders as junior quarterback Chaiten Tomlin threw for 558 yards with seven touchdowns. Tomlin connected with senior receiver A.J. Glines 14 times for a total of 268 yards and four touchdowns for the Mount.
Bluffton earned a 34-0 shutout victory at Earlham on Saturday. The Beavers defense was led by Tyler Showalter and Stephan Kosakowski. Showalter contributed 10 solo tackles (13 total), while Kosakowski added six solo tackles (8 total), 0.5 tackles-for-loss, and two interceptions.
The Manchester Spartans claimed their first victory of the season on Saturday with a 57-26 win over Defiance. The Spartan offensive unit tallied eight total touchdowns in the matchup. Junior Donovan Henderson Jr. rushed for 155 yards on 25 carries and three touchdowns in the victory.
