INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference football teams remain undefeated after the third week of conference action.
Mount St. Joseph traveled to Bluffton on Saturday and left with a 21-7 road win. The Lions defense was stifling at the goal line for the Beavers. Safety Tavon Robertson led a Lions defense that caused five Bluffton turnovers on Saturday. The senior picked off a Beaver pass in the end zone, and forced a fumble as a Bluffton ball carrier attempted to cross the goal line. Robertson also tallied five solo tackles in the win for the Mount.
The Franklin College Grizzlies claimed an exciting 42-39 win at home against Rose-Hulman on Saturday. With 21 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Franklin quarterback Braden Smith connected with receiver Ben Fleet for a 31 yard receiving touchdown. Fleet, a senior for the Grizzlies, hauled in 10 receptions for 235 yards with two touchdowns in the victory.
Hanover College picked up a 55-8 win on the road at Anderson on Saturday. The Panthers tallied 506 total offensive yards compared to the Ravens 200. Hanover was led by quarterback Noah Wezensky, the sophomore threw 24-for-35 for 229 yards with five touchdowns. The Hanover defense also added seven sacks for a loss of 34 yards in the matchup.
Manchester claimed a 69-0 shutout victory over Earlham last weekend. The Spartan defense allowed only 97 rushing yards from the Quakers and tallied 74 tackles in the win. The Manchester run game was on wheels as four players combined for six rushing touchdowns.
