INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference football teams remain undefeated after the fourth week of conference action.
Mount St. Joseph hosted Manchester on Saturday, and the Lions defeated the Spartans in a 49-27 homecoming win. The Mount prodcued 424 total offensive yards compared to Manchester's 230. On the ground, Michael Williamson rushed 26 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns to anchor the Lions offense. On the defensive side, Tyler Hannah tallied 11 total tackles including six solo and one tackle-for-loss in the victory.
The Franklin College Grizzlies claimed a 55-28 win on the road at Defiance on Saturday. Grizzly quarterback Braden Smith connected 24 out of 34 passes for 381 yards and five touchdowns in the victory. For Defiance, Jalin Nealy totaled 11 tackles, seven solo, and one pass breakup for the Yellow Jackets defense in the loss.
Hanover College picked up an 83-17 homecoming win against Earlham on Saturday. The Panthers tallied 704 total offensive yards compared to the Quakers 291. Hanover was led in the air by receiver Shawn Coane who tallied 133 yards on 13 catches for two touchdowns. Running back Conner Gibson carried the ball only twice for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the Panther win.
Rose-Hulman claimed a 23-14 victory over Bluffton last weekend. The Fightin' Engineers defense tallied two sacks for a 13 yard loss, and also added five interceptions for 79 yards. Rose-Hulman's defense was anchored by an 11 tackle, seven solo, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception, and one quarterback hurry performance by Carter Hounshell in the homecoming win for the Engineers.
