Adam Wheat, Franklin College, Football (Defense)
Franklin College linebacker Adam Wheat (Aurora, Ind./South Dearborn) led the Grizzlies' come from behind effort in a 28-21 win over Manchester and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on defense.
The junior had three solo tackles, one assisted tackle, and a crucial interception return for a touchdown in the win. Wheat picked off a Manchester pass and returned it 76 yards for a score, tying the game at 21-21 with 7:26 remaining in the contest. Franklin rode the momentum to score the game-winning touchdown four minutes later.
Franklin (6-3, 4-2 HCAC) will close the 2009 season on the road against Hanover in the annual Victory Bell game.
