Earlham College’s Ryan Acosta (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth) set a new school and HCAC record in the Quakers 26-10 loss to Defiance and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on special teams.
The freshman booted a record 54-yard field goal late in the first quarter, breaking the old HCAC mark of 52-yards set by Hanover’s Drew Starck in 2002.
The 54-yard book also broke Earlham’s mark of 52-yards set in 2009 by Max Crumley-Effinger.
Earlham (0-7, 0-5 HCAC) will try for a win at Mount St. Joseph Saturday afternoon.
