Franklin College’s Michael Parks (Shelbyville, Ind./H.S.) averaged 41.8 yards per punt in Franklin’s 30-27 loss at No. 1 ranked Mount Union Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on special teams.
The senior Preseason All-American punter averaged 41.8 yards per punt over five kicks, including a 52-yard boot to help swing the field position during the first half. Parks also pinned the Purple Raiders inside the 5-yard line during the fourth quarter as the Grizzlies cut the deficit to 23-21.
Parks is the active career leader at the NCAA Division III level with a 41.4 yards per punt average.
No. 13 Franklin (0-1, 0-0 HCAC) will play the first night game at Faught Stadium Saturday against Butler at 6PM.
