Men's Basketball Report (Week 2) - Mount Moves to 4-1: Defeats Rival Thomas More
GREENWOOD, IN - The College of Mount St. Joseph (4-1, 0-0 HCAC) continued its hot start to the season, posting a 2-0 record over Thanksgiving week. The Lions edged rival Thomas More 84-80 in the Bridge Shootout Wednesday night and posted a 57-51 win at home against Denison Sunday.
The Mount received two tremendous performances against Thomas More to earn the win. Senior guard Michael Romes (Villa Hills, Ky./Beechwood) scored 26 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds against the Saints, while senior guard Travis Huffman (Hebron, Ky./Conner) led the scoring effort with 27 points.
Romes again produced for the Lions in the win over Denison, scoring 19 points and adding eight rebounds against the Big Red.
The Mount will look to carry their non-conference success into the conference schedule as they open play against Bluffton Wednesday night. MSJ will close the week on the road against Anderson Saturday.
