Men's Basketball Report (Week 1) - Bluffton Wins North Central Tip-Off Tourney

GREENWOOD, IN - Bluffton University (2-0, 0-0 HCAC) needed just one weekend to equal their victory total from a year ago as the Beavers stand 2-0 following their Tip-Off title at North Central (IL).  BU defeated host North Central 61-56 in the opening game and knocked off Valley City State (ND) 87-72 in the championship contest.

Freshman forward Will Pope (Somerville, Ohio/Preble Shawnee) led the Beavers effort against North Central, scoring a team-high 14 points and adding seven rebounds.  Pope added eight points and nine boards against Valley City State.

Junior guard Mychal Hill (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) led four players in double figures in the championship contest, netting 20 points in the win.  Brent Farley (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) added 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Beavers.

Bluffton will travel to Hiram tomorrow evening before playing in front of the home crowd for the first time this season Saturday against Kalamazoo.
