Men's Basketball Report (Week 7) - Hanover Claims Holiday Tournament Title at Centre
GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College (8-2, 4-0 HCAC) traveled to Danville, Kentucky for the Centre College Papa John's/Country Hearth Inn Tournament over the holiday break. The Panthers earned the title by defeating Ohio Northern and host Centre to run their win streak to seven in a row.
In the 68-55 win over Ohio Northern in the opening round game, Mike Case (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) led the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds on 10 of 12 shooting from the field. As a team, the Panthers finished 51.9% from the floor against the Polar Bears.
Hanover led by as many as 25 points in the second half and held on to defeat host Centre 65-61 in the championship game.
Junior forward Mike Case again was impressive and earned the tournament’s most valuable player award. Case led Hanover in the title bout with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Freshman guard Grant Pangallo (Newport, Ky./Central Catholic), who joined Case on the all-tournament team, scored 11 points.
Hanover returns to the court Wednesday night as the HCAC schedule gets in full swing following the holiday break. The Panthers will play host to Bluffton at 8:00 PM.
