Manchester’s Moss Headlines All-HCAC Basketball Selections

GREENWOOD, IN – Manchester College’s Jordan Moss (Columbia City, Ind./H.S.) has been named the 2010-2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player and headlines the 12-member All-HCAC 1st and 2nd teams. The junior guard led the Spartans to their third HCAC men’s basketball title and first tournament title since claiming the ICAC tournament crown in 1995.  Manchester holds a 21-6 overall record heading into NCAA tournament play Friday evening.

Moss ranked fifth among the conference leaders in scoring (14.4 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (60.6%), and seventh in assists (3.0 apg) during conference play this season.  Overall for the season, Moss averaged 13.2 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per contest, and shot 58.3% from the field. 

Manchester compiled a 15-3 conference mark, claiming the regular season and tournament titles.  MC will tangle with Bethany (W.V.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the College of Wooster Friday night.

Rose-Hulman’s Julian Strickland (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) has also received special recognition by the conference.  The freshman guard has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year.  Strickland ranked second on the Engineers in scoring during conference play, averaging 11.9 points per game.  He finished first in the HCAC in free throw percentage (90.5%) and ranked among the conference leaders in field goal percentage (50.3%) during league play.

Manchester College head coach Brad Nadborne has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the first time.  Nadborne led the Spartans to their third HCAC men’s basketball title and first tournament title since Steve Alford led the black and gold to the ICAC crown in 1995.  Manchester has compiled a 21-6 overall record this season and will face Bethany (W.V.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the College of Wooster Friday evening.

Moss is one of 12 players named to the All-HCAC first or second team. There are four seniors, five juniors, and three sophomores on the team this season. The nine-member Honorable Mention All-HCAC team has also been named.  A complete list of the recipients of conference awards follow:
