Transylvania and Franklin Set to Host HCAC Basketball Tournaments

GREENWOOD, IN – Transylvania University's men's basketball team and Franklin College's women's basketball team each secured the top seed in the upcoming HCAC basketball tournaments.  The two schools will host all tournament contests next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Transylvania locked up the top spot in the conference standings and clinched an outright conference championship on February 11 with a 72-52 win over Manchester.  The title was the Pioneers fourth men's basketball title as a member of the HCAC, claiming the title by a four game margin.

The Franklin women secured their sixth HCAC crown with a 61-52 win over Defiance this afternoon.  The Grizzlies shared the league title with rival Hanover and held the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Panthers due to a season sweep.

The men's and women's tournament schedules have been set.  Friday's action will get underway from Transylvania and Franklin at 6:00 PM.  The men's and women's semis will be held on Saturday as the women play at 3/5:00 PM, while the men play at 5/7:00 PM.

Sunday will mark the championship contests as the men's and women's finals tip at 2:00 PM.

Tickets will be $5.00 per session ($4.00 for students and senior citizens).  Children under the age of 11 are free.
