GREENWOOD, IN - The College of Mount St. Joseph earned a pair of league wins last week to remain in a tie atop the league standings. The Lions (8-4, 5-1 HCAC) earned home wins over Bluffton and Earlham and stand in a three-way tie for first place with Hanover and Rose-Hulman.
In Wednesday's 70-56 win over Bluffton, junior guard Mark Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) led the scoring with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
On Saturday, Allen added 19 points as the Lions defeated Earlham 81-72. Sophomore guard Joel Scudder (Greendale, Ind./South Dearborn) led MSJ with 21 points in the win.
Mount St. Joseph will face both Hanover and Rose-Hulman this week.
In other action...
Hanover (9-4, 5-1 HCAC) claimed two road wins during the week, beating Transylvania and Bluffton by double figures. Junior guard Tim Bass (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) netted 22 points, dished out seven assists, and had two steals in an 87-77 win at Transylvania. The junior followed that performance with his second career double-double, posting 16 points and 10 assists, along with three steals, in a 75-59 win at Bluffton Saturday.
Rose-Hulman (10-3, 5-1 HCAC) ran its win streak to seven straight following a pair of wins. The Engineers earned a 76-64 win at home over Earlham Wednesday and ended the week with an exciting 58-57 win at Defiance Saturday.
