Transylvania University junior forward Ethan Spurlin (Stanford, Ky./Lincoln Co.) led the Pioneers into sole possession of first place in the HCAC race with wins over Rose-Hulman and Hanover and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time.

In Transy’s 72-67 win over Hanover, Spurlin scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds, connecting on 12 of his 18 field goal attempts.

The junior followed that performance with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks in a 60-46 home win over Rose-Hulman.

Transylvania (13-2, 7-1 HCAC) will strive to remain in first place as they travel to Mount St. Joseph and Anderson this week.
