Transy's Sutherland Repeats as Ping All-American

LEXINGTON, KY - For the second year in a row, Transylvania junior golfer Bradley Sutherland has been named a Ping All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Sutherland, a Cadiz, Ky., native, was honored as a second-team pick for the second time. He won the Heartland Conference Championship by 10 strokes and led the Pioneers to a spot in the 35-team NCAA Division III Championship, where he finished in a tie for 15th.

Sutherland was the HCAC Player of the Year, just the second Pioneer to earn that honor.

Transylvania won the HCAC  tournament for the second year in a row and is made its second appearance in the NCAA Championships last week. After a 12th place finish a year ago, Transy was 11th this year as a team.

Sutherland was 11th individually last year, when he was named to the All-American team for the first time.

There were 11 players named to the Division III Ping All-America team and nine more were second-team selections. A total of 17 players made the national third team.
