Men's Golf Report (Week 2) - Transy's Tereshko Captures Medalist Honors at Hanover

GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College played host to the nine-team Hanover Invitational this past weekend.  Franklin College was the highest finishing HCAC school, placing second at the event.  The Grizzlies finished five strokes behind first place Thomas More in the team standings.  Transylvania University was the only HCAC school not to post a team score.

Transylvania's Justin Tereshko (Madison, Ind./H.S.) shot a second round 70 to capture medalist honors at the event.  The sophomore golfer fired rounds of 77 and 70, holding off Franklin's Eric Whitaker (Coatesville, Ind./North Putnam) by a single shot for the title.

Franklin finished the 36-hole event, held at Shadowood Golf Course, with a two-day score of 625.  Whitaker was the top finishing Grizzly golfer, finishing second place with rounds of 72 and 76.

Anderson finished third in the team standings with a total of 628.  Justin Lane (Beech Grove, Ind./H.S.) and Kent Wohlberg (Anderson, Ind./H.S.) each finished in 11th position, firing a pair of 78's in each round.

Host Hanover finished 12 shots off the lead and placed fourth in the team standings.  Freshman Marcus El (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) finished third in the individual standings with a two-round total of 149.

Mount St. Joseph, Manchester, Rose-Hulman, and Defiance rounded out the HCAC finishers at the tournament.

The men's golf squads will return to the course on April 10 and 11.  Manchester will take part in the DePauw Invitational, while Defiance College will welcome the rest of the HCAC field at the Defiance Invitational held at Kettenring Country Club.
