DEFIANCE, OH – The 2010 HCAC men’s golf tournament shifts north to Defiance, Ohio for the third and final rounds this weekend. Transylvania University is shooting for their fourth consecutive HCAC men's golf title and leads the field by 18 strokes heading into the final weekend. The final rounds will take place at Kettenring Country Club in Defiance, Ohio Saturday and Sunday.
The conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships which will be held on May 11-14 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The Pioneers fired a total of 292 on day one and followed that effort with a 311 on Sunday. Transy totaled a 603 for the two days and lead second place Franklin (621) and third place Mount St. Joseph (630). The rest of the field includes Hanover (634), Defiance (658), Anderson (660), Rose-Hulman (678), and Manchester (681).
Transy's Hunter Frazier (Lexington, Ky./Lex. Christian) currently leads the individual standings with rounds of 73 and 74. The freshman currently holds a one shot lead over Franklin's Tom Moore (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central).
The top eight finishers after Sunday's round is complete will earn All-HCAC honors. The top freshman finisher will receive the Freshman of the Year award. Action will get underway Saturday at 10:00 AM and Sunday at 9:00 AM.
