GREENWOOD, IN - The Transylvania University men's golf team and Franklin College's women's golf team are set to take part in the NCAA Division III Championships this week.  The men will play May 11-14 at the Hersey (Penn.) Links and Hershey Country Club, while the women will play May 11-14 at the Mission Inn Resort course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Transy, which finished 15th in the NCAA tourney last year, is one of just six schools nationally to play in the Division III Championship in each of the past three years and finish 15th or better in all three appearances. Among the teams on that list are former national champions Oglethorpe, St. John's, and Huntingdon.

A total of 37 teams, including 27 automatic qualifiers, made the NCAA field this year and the cut will be made at the top 15 teams after two rounds.

The Grizzlies, ranked 23rd in the nation in the National Golf Coaches Association’s latest poll, will compete in the 72 hole event at the Mission Inn Resort course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Franklin earned automatic qualification for the NCAA finals event by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament title last October.
