Men's Golf Report (Week 2) - Pioneers Earn Mount St. Joseph Invite Title

GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University's men's golf team led the eight competing HCAC schools at the MSJ Spring Invitational with a first place finish this past weekend.  The Pioneers held off second place Hanover College by 14 strokes to win the two-round event.

Transy finished the 36-hole tournament, held at Aston Oaks Golf Course, with a two-day score of 587.  Stephen Montgomery (Elizabethtown, Ky./John Hardin) led the Pios with a first place finish, firing a record low total of four under par (140) with rounds of 69 and 71.

TU's Justin Tereshko (Madison, Ind./H.S.) placed second in the individual standings with a two-round total of 147 (76-71).

Hanover College finished 14 strokes off the lead in the team standings and placed second overall. Sophomore Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) finished second in the individual standings with a two-round total of 147 (72-75).

Mount St. Joseph carded a fourth place finish at the 13 team event with a total of 607.  The Lions were led by Kenny Brosnan (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) who tallied a 147 (73-74) to finish second overall.

Franklin (6th), Anderson (9th), Defiance (10th), Manchester (11th), and Rose-Hulman (12th) rounded out the HCAC finishers at the tournament.

This weekend, all eight of the conference schools will be competing on the links at the Hanover Invitational on March 31-April 1.
